Odds are that if there are fish in that lake, you’ll find a least a few fish houses on the ice during our winter months. After a busy Sunday, I only had about 40 minutes till sunset to get some photos and it looked like a good day to head to Lake Sarah, a lake I drive past on Highway 55 quite often, and get an image of the fish houses on a frozen lake.
I arrived just after sunset (civil twilight/blue hour) and walked out onto the ice with my camera bag and tripod. It was cold, but the light was good. I put my camera on the tripod, added a 2-Stop Lee GND to balance the light and moved around as I took pictures. As the air cooled, fog developed above the ice, and there was also plenty of traffic. I must have watched 20 trucks, cars and SUVs drive on or off the lake.
